If you are like the majority of intermediate home studio artists and producers, then you are most likely making music that is only 50-80% of the way there in terms of professional quality...
...but that last 20-50% is severely lacking.
Which means that your music still does not sound professional - and when you compare it to your favorite music on Spotify - it probably still feels a bit amateur.
And whether you want to grow an audience as either a producer, artist, or both; or simply be proud of the music you make - that is a problem.
Whether you want to produce artists or build a following as an artist or get into sync licensing or whatever your goals are- the music you make needs to be competitive and must stand out in order to accomplish those goals.
Audiences and listeners are more critical than ever and the landscape is more competitive than ever.
The playing field has been leveled because anyone with a computer can now create music and many of the artists and producers who are "up and coming" are not using professional studios.
... they're in the basement cranking out music that's crushing it.
Myself and my partner, Andrew Barr, are fortunate enough to be amongst those people, and many of our colleagues are doing the same.
DVLP (develop) is all about... you guessed it...
Developing home studio producers.
The way we do this is through coaching and mentorship.
In a time where more and more people are binge watching YouTube tutorials - the truth is that the best way to grow is to have a real professional looking over your shoulder and actually helping you.
Believe it or not... that's what I (Nathan) did.
When I realized I wanted to take this more seriously - I actually learned from a seasoned music producer and guess what?
I learned more in 3 months than I had learned in the prior 5 years combined!
How is that possible, you may ask?
Quite simple, really... because it turns out that when you learn from someone who is truly an expert - they can easily identify
where you are lacking and help you focus.
The true path to learning something fast is not an information problem.
It's a focus problem.
All the information in the world isn't gonna help you... because it turns out that 90% of that information
is useless to YOUR situation.
And even worse... a lot of the information you are learning might be getting applied incorrectly or without REALLY understanding when or why to use the technique you just learned.
Imagine you go to the doctor... and you are saying that your head hurts.
Well, that doctor is going to be asking you questions right?
Questions designed to identify what your problem actually is.
So, if you just start looking stuff up on the internet - you might get a lot of information...
... but you don't know what the doctor knows, so you are way more likely to get it wrong.
Or it's almost like looking up on WebMD what's wrong with you - and it says you only have 2 weeks left to live... when you really just have a basic headache lol.
When I started learning from Phil Zach (my mentor) - I started realizing how all the things I was focusing on were
the wrong things.
And once I shifted that focus to the right things...
My music started sounding 10x better almost immediately.
... and now I have over a decade of experience in this department not only as a working professional with music on the radio, music in television, and my own artist project getting hundreds of thousands of streams but also as a mentor to help other producers develop into professional level music makers.
And yes, Andrew has very similar credentials!
In the past 4 years we have helped countless music producers go from making amateur music to professional quality and guess what?
We've been able to... identify the problems and provide focus.
And they get better exponentially faster than they could on their own.
Too many home studio producers are driving with their eyes closed.
And the reality is that you can't make it to your destination unless you open your eyes and see where you're going.
The whole point of DVLP is providing you with a framework to see and hear what your music CAN sound like.
So you may be wondering... how?
Well, like I said already... you need focus, and the best way to gain focus is to have someone pointing out what the issues are and then providing you with realistic solutions.
Now there's a big problem with modern "coaching" or "mentorship" in the music industry that I need to call out...
Most of these so-called "Coaching Programs" are simply not actually coaching programs or mentorship programs at all.
They're glorified group masterminds.
And look, we got nothing wrong with that - DVLP includes a group component, too.
But the problem is you can't call something "mentorship" if you can never even talk to the people who call you a Mentor.
Yet that is what is happening...
What I've found is that the only way you see incredible results is to get REAL coaching and REAL mentorship.
Which means 1-1 attention.
With DVLP we are taking the best of all worlds and putting it together... it's really a "Hybrid Mentorship"
Learning peer-to-peer and in a group coaching format is amazing and you learn a LOT, but you also need that hand-holding, too.
So we do both.
We are one of the only music production programs that has On-Demand 1-1
And I'm proud of that because it'd be a heck of a lot less work to just do a weekly group call and that's it, but it also wouldn't help you nearly as much.
What does "On Demand 1-1" mean and why should you care?
It means that if you need help - you tell us... and then we help you. Period.
Whether you need to jump on a 1-1 coaching call or whether we need to shoot you a quick video helping you out - we will make sure you are 100% taken care of.
Some problems are easy fixes that we can very quickly resolve with a quick video - other problems are much bigger that require a 30 minute 1-1 call and seeing your session to help you.
The whole point here is that our focus is 100% oriented around YOUR success - not "what's the least amount of work we have to do?"
Our Hybrid approach comes out of a desire to truly bring the most value to our students.
If you are itching to get that kind of help with your music - we'd love to see if you're a good fit for DVLP.
If you’re ready to take your music from good to great, let’s talk. Apply today and schedule a call to see if this program is the perfect fit for you.
